Watch Trucker’s Health with Digital Tools

Truckers due to their strenuous routines tend to face serious health issues which makes it important to keep a watch on their health. There is nothing better than the digital tools to monitor their health.

Various researches show that truckers are prone to hypertension, sleep apnea, cardiac problems, diabetes, obesity, back and joint pains and various other disorders.

A community medicine specialist at University of Moncton is conducting a study on 200 drivers. But they did not want to miss out on working days to see the doctor. Thus, the researcher and her team gave smartphones, smartwatches, thermometers, blood pressure monitors, stress balls, resistance bands along with educational material in English and French.

The project has been initiated under Trucker’s Health Adaptive Technology (THAT) which will look into the physical, mental and social health of the drivers. The participating drivers will be recruited till June 2024 and will be categorised to experimental and control groups. The project will reach its completion in 2025.

The observations and outcomes will help the researchers to understand the gravity of challenges that the truckers face.
