Obituary from The Trucking Network

The Trucking Network Inc wishes to send its deepest condolences to the friends and family of Eric Carl Cooney, of Inverary, ON, who sadly passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023, surrounded by family. Mr. Cooney died at Kingston General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer; he was 74.

Eric Cooney was born on April 22, 1949, to loving parents Ruth and Hilliard Cooney. He is survived by his daughter, Sherri Vanjooser, his son Wayne and his wife, Ann Cooney. His siblings are Gary Cooney, Linda Moore, and Susan Cooney; his granddaughters Amanda (husband Wayne Burke), Alexis, Victoria, and Madison; and great-grandson Lincoln Burke.

Mr. Cooney was a proud and devoted Shriner who loved driving his fire truck in many Santa Claus parades. He had a proud and dedicated career as a truck driver and took great pride in driving over a million miles accident-free.

Eric enjoyed golf and had a great passion and knowledge of Civil War history. He loved watching westerns and baseball with Bonnie. He enjoyed the pleasure of being a somewhat silly and loving grandfather. His greatest passion and love was music, especially The King, Elvis Presley. Hopefully, he is dancing and singing as he has rejoined the many beloved family members and friends who left before him.

Eric’s life will be celebrated at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club on Saturday, July 29, from 12 to 4 pm. Please RSVP to sherrivanhooser@gmail.com. Please raise a glass as we toast Eric Cooney, “The Big E has left the building.”

The family would appreciate any donations in sympathy to go to the Canadian Cancer Society.

May Eric Carl Cooney Rest In Peace.
