CTA Seeks Feedback on Barriers to Interprovincial Trucking
The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) is seeking feedback from its members on barriers in inter-provincial trucking that create logistical and operational issues for trucking fleets. In addition, they are asking for input on any other constraints or irritants that might lead to supply chain inefficiencies and delays for trucks and drivers. The CTA plans to bring these concerns to the Government of Canada in June and offer possible solutions.
Many concerns have been raised by members. and include:
Policies concerning winter maintenance agreements.
A need for an increase in rest areas for truck drives.
Issues for oversize/overweight carriers and permit regimes, and other illogical
constraints from one jurisdiction to the next.
They include time of day travel restrictions and other issues impacting supply chain
fluidity.
The CTA encourages members to send feedback. That includes roadways with ongoing hazardous conditions, specific locations where rest stops are required, and other inter- provincial issues.
Please send communication and feedback to operations_safety@cantruck.ca by May 31, 2023.
