September is here and our World has changed drastically from where it was six months ago.
The pandemic shutdown our lives in one swoop as everyone was ordered to stay home. I
remember in early March being at the Brampton Trucking Network Job Fair with a crowded
event space and interviewing people in person about their careers and the job fair. A week later
everyone was ordered to stay home. Now we are looking at a complete change in the way we
do things and in many cases it has changed has our business models for the future. One of
those changes is the way information is being delivered to your followers and the way they can
use that information.
The Trucking Network has been known for their live events and job fairs for many years. These
packed events have now morphed into online virtual job fairs. You now have the option of being
interviewed from the comfort of your home and can talk to many recruiters at the same time.
They have taken the virtual world one step further with a series of webinars on a variety of
topics within the transportation industry. This allows people to get more information about the
industry keeping them up to date with changes. This is how an event business has changed the
way they are delivering their service to job seekers and industry. How does this help you?
As job seeker or industry professional this offers you a chance to have your own industry
university. For the transportation professional you can use the online webinars to keep up with
information, network with others, and build a library of topics that can be reviewed at a later
date. For a newcomer to the industry this can be a great way to learn about the industry in
general and what’s going on or the people guiding it. As a new driver do you know how to deal
with Covid-19 or how hiring and training has changed in the industry. Did you know about the
ELD (Electronic Logging Devices) mandate and how the pandemic has changed that program?
If you had gone to live events on these issues you would have had to take notes and hope you
got all of the information. With virtual webinars presentations are recorded and can be reviewed
when needed.
It looks like things will be different for quite a while with the pandemic. You can wait until it’s over
and hope for the best or you can use the time and resources out there to improve your situation
for the future. The job fair for The Trucking Network will be virtual again due to the pandemic
and keep an eye out for their upcoming webinars to improve your mind and career for the future.
