ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਫਰਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਅੱਧੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਕਮਰਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਮਾਡਲ ਹਨ।
ਹੈਵੀ ਡਿਊਟੀ ਟਰੱਕਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦਸੰਬਰ 2021 ਤੱਕ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਗੱਡੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਆਈਐਚਐਸ ਮਾਰਕਿਟ ਡਾਟਾ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਡੀਟੀਐਫ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ 2010 ਮਾਡਲ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੌਮੀ ਔਸਤ 53 ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ 4 ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਵੱਧ ਸੀ। 2010 ਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਇੰਜਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਕੰਬਸ਼ਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਰਿਸਾਅ ਦੇ ਨਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਡੀਟੀਐਫ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਗਈ ਇੱਕ ਖੋਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਟੋਫੋਰਕਾਸਟ ਸੌਲਿਊਸ਼ਨਜ਼ ਨੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਰੋਡ ਉੱਤੇ ਐਡਵਾਂਸਡ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਧਾ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ 1·3 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਟੰਨ ਕਾਰਬਨਡਾਈਆਕਸਾਈਡ ਦਾ ਸਫਾਇਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇੱਕ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਰਲੀਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੀਟੀਐਫ ਦੇ ਐਗਜ਼ੈਕਟਿਵ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਐਲਨ ਸੈ਼ਫਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਐਨਵਾਇਰਮੈਂਟ ਤੇ ਅਰਥਚਾਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਖਬਰ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਹੋ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਟਰੱਕਰਜ਼ ਤੇ ਕਮਰਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਫਲੀਟ ਮਾਲਕ, ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਚੁਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ 4·2 ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹੈ।
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਠੋਸ ਟਰੈਕ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ, ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਊਪਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ। ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਟਰੱਕ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਛਾਏ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।ਸ਼ੈਫਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਦਬਦਬੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਇੰਜਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਇੰਜਣ ਲੋਅ ਕਾਰਬਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੁੜ ਨੰਵਿਆਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਾਇਓਫਿਊਲਜ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕਾਰਕ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰੀਨਹਾਊਸ ਗੈਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਸਾਅ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹੱਲ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਫਿਊਲ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜੀਐਚਜੀ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਰਿਸਾਅ 20-80 ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਘਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ੈਫਰ ਨੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੀ ਐਨਵਾਇਰਮੈਂਟਲ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ, ਐਡਵਾਂਸ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਜੈਨਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਨਾਈਟਰੋਜਨ ਆਕਸਾਈਡਜ਼ (ਨੌਕਸ) ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਟੀਕੁਲੇਟ ਮੈਟਰ (ਪੀਐਮ) ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ 98 ਫੀ ਸਦੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।2011 ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ 20 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਗੈਲਨ ਫਿਊਲ ਦੀ ਬਚਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰੀਨਹਾਊਸ ਗੈਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਿਸਾਅ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਬਚਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਨਾਲ 202 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਮੀਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਟੰਨ ਜੀਐਚਜੀ ਦੇ ਰਿਸਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਮੀ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਤੇ 27 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਮੀਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਟੰਨ ਨੌਕਸ ਦੇ ਰਿਸਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਟੌਤੀ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ)।
