CBSA Announces End of Commercial Driver Registration Program

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced it will end the Commercial Driver Registration Program (CDRP) effective September 1, 2026.

According to the CBSA, the decision was made following a review of the program, which found that CDRP had low participation and duplicated the benefits offered through the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program.

What members need to know:

• The CDRP will officially end on September 1, 2026.
• Applications received on or before September 1, 2026, will continue to be processed.
• Existing CDRP membership cards will remain valid until their expiry date.
• Commercial drivers who wish to continue accessing Trusted Trader benefits are encouraged to apply for the FAST program.

The CBSA has indicated that it is working with the trucking industry, including the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA), commercial carriers and other stakeholders to support a smooth transition and ensure affected drivers receive the information they need.

Members with drivers currently enrolled in CDRP should review their Trusted Trader participation and consider transitioning eligible drivers to the FAST program to maintain access to expedited border processing.
