WSIB chair Elizabeth Witmer announced at the board’s AGM today that the WSIB will be holding all premium rates at their 2020 level for 2021.

This means employers in the trucking industry will pay the same premium rate in 2021 that they paid this year.

For companies that elected to defer WSIB premium rates during the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, are also being given until January 1, 2021 to begin repayment and will have until June 30, 2021 to complete that payment without interest or penalty.

‘The OTA would like to thank Chair Witmer for working with the business community in these challenging times,” said OTA president Stephen Laskowski. “From enforcing Driver Inc. to today’s announcement, the Ontario WSIB has shown an awareness and commitment to working with the compliant trucking industry.”
