The area between your tractor’s sleeper and the trailer is sometimes called the catwalk. No matter what you call this space on a tractor-trailer, there is a violation frequently present in this area: rubbing air and power lines.
The lines from the tractor to the trailer typically hang down in this area and have a certain amount of slack to them to allow for sharp turns. However, if you have so much slack in these lines that they are resting on the deck, frame, or any other part of the vehicle, you need to either wrap the lines or hang them higher so they do not rub.
Airlines and power lines that are rubbing on your vehicle are violations, and even if there is not much damage today the constant vibration and rubbing will lead to the lines getting damaged to the point where the safety of the vehicle is at risk.
