The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has extended the validity period of Driver, Vehicle and Carrier products until September 30, 2020. To assist in raising awareness of this extension a letter for truck drivers travelling outside provincial jurisdictions has been updated to reflect a new validity date of Sept. 30, 2020.

Please note the September 30, 2020 date does not necessarily mean that regulations extending the validity of driver, vehicle and carrier products expires on that date. The date on the letter will be updated, as needed, until the regulations extending the validation period are revoked. At this time, it is unknown when the regulations will be revoked. MTO recommends that drivers have access to their letter either electronically or by carrying a hard copy with them during their travels across North America. For complete details of all the extensions provided by MTO, click here

The Government of Ontario will continue to monitor emerging developments and will provide updates to the trucking industry as they become available. OTA will be at the table for those discussions and will continue to keep the membership informed of all updates.
