Emergency Water and Food

Truckers may find themselves isolated away from services for long periods of time.  Such incidents can occur when they are stuck waiting for a road to open or broken down and waiting for a service vehicle.

If you’re a professional driver, consider emergency food and water part of your mandatory safety equipment.  While you probably pass through dozens of places each day where you can get food and drinks, all it takes is one unexpected delay to put you in a difficult situation.

At a minimum, you should carry 4 liters of water and enough food for one day.  This is above and beyond what you carry for your daily needs since this is for unexpected use only.  Also, be sure to rotate through these supplies regularly so that they do not go bad before you need them.
