Distracted Driving – More Than Just Your Phone

Distracted driving is synonymous with handheld cellphone use.  In many jurisdictions, handheld phones and/or electronic devices are specifically mentioned in legislation that prohibits distracted driving.  Professional drivers should all be aware that using a phone while driving is dangerous, illegal, and unprofessional.

However, there are many other types of distracted driving.  Human attention is not unlimited, so drivers should be aware that everything they are paying attention to uses up a little bit – or a lot – of their focus.

When driving, consider being proactive and stopping activities that aren’t specifically prohibited by the law when you are in areas where driving is more challenging.  No driver needs collisions on their record.
